Mammagamma

This track was performed almost entirely by a computer.

What can I say about this piece of music except that every time I listen to it, the first being way back in 1985, the hairs on the back of my neck still stand up! It is without doubt the finest instrumental piece Alan Parsons has ever done in my opinion, 3:34 mins of utter brilliance! Indeed, my love of today's electronic instrumental music stems from Mammagamma.

The tune to me is very very uplifting, dark and mysterious, and is absolutely magical in it's minor key signature, and that cymbal sample... it could also be called vacuum!

I would like to learn more about this piece, like what was the computer equipment used to compose it and why did he call it Mammagamma?

If anyone can respone to this I would be most interested!

Thank you, WAYNE.

The Dutch national aerobatic display team used Mammagamma as their soundtrack for performance in air shows.

The Music Of Alan Parsons Project

General notes...

All the tracks on this album are performed on synthesizers. For the most part, the tracks aren't too bad - although they don't seem as professional as the ones performed by Ed Starink on the Synthesizer Greatest series of albums, and on The Alan Parsons Songbook. The 'doo' sound on The Gold Bug is particularly jarring...

This is the first album, to my knowledge, to feature tracks from both Project and AP solo albums.

Frank Musker

Frank Musker has co-written Queen's "Too Much Love Will Kill You" along with Brian May and Elizabeth Lamers and "Don't Close Your Eyes Tonight" with Richard Kerr from the album "Dreamland Express". Much of the information on him is in German, a language I don't speak beyond only a few words. I will post a note to the roadkill list for one of our German speaking members to write a short synopsis.
